🤍 5k All Day ✨
Yesterday, I was tired.
I didn’t want to run, but I felt like if I didn’t, I would be disappointed in myself. I typically run a 5k at least every time I run. Sometimes, if I have absolutely no time, I just do two miles because I can push it to finish quickly. So last night, while my daughter was going to sleep, I told my husband, “I’m just going to hop on the treadmill and run two miles.” He said, “yes, do that, take it easy, you’ll feel better once you do.”
Okay, here I go! I get on and usually the first mile is the worst - but I push through…this time…I finished the first in under 10 mins and felt pretty good, not really tired… 🤔 Mile 2: Hmmm, I don’t want to stop and I’m making good time! Let’s keep going! Push it to go faster! & I did. My last mile was the fastest of the three and I felt good!! Usually my Apple Watch is so discouraging, it’s behind the pace, says I haven’t gone as far as the treadmill says, but this time, it was spot on! I think that really helped motivate me to push hard and keep going!

Running can often feel daunting, but every runner knows the thrill of breaking through mental barriers. On average, many women aim for a 5K completion time of around 36 minutes. However, with proper motivation and pacing strategies, improving your times is achievable and rewarding. Setting realistic goals and listening to your body plays a crucial role in your running journey. Joining a community like runners of Lemon8 can also provide that extra boost of motivation to keep pushing yourself. For beginners, alternating between walking and jogging can be a great way to ease into the routine. Start with distance as your primary goal, and gradually incorporate speed workouts to see improvements. Remember, every small achievement is a step towards greater fitness success! Never underestimate the importance of having a reliable watch or timer to track your progress accurately, as it provides valuable feedback to help you improve your pace. Celebrate your milestones, whether it's completing your first 5K or achieving a new personal best. After all, every run is a victory worth celebrating!

Did you do anything to work up to getting your time like this? If so what are some tips you could share?? I’m currently working on my time/pace for a 5k!
