meet the lil gremlins

this is mordecai and Casper.

I got mordecai from my grandma when I was living with her for a few months. It was my birthday and she wanted me to have a friend while I was there. eventually I came back home and I got a new job and wouldn’t be there with mordecai all day, so my dad decided to get him a friend (regret in a way) mordecai stopped letting me touch him and stuff unless I have treats he’ll get in my hand every now and then. I guess it’s a common thing that happens, asking as he’s happy tho I’m happy 💃 they love eachother

Parakeets, like these two, are known for their social nature and can develop strong bonds with their owners and each other. Understanding their behavioral changes is crucial. For instance, it’s common for them to act differently when introduced to new companions, which can lead to a shift in their interaction with humans. To foster a healthy relationship with your birds, spending quality time is essential. Engage them with toys and treats, which can enhance their trust and willingness to interact. Regular handling from a young age can contribute to them being more comfortable with touch, but it’s vital to respect their boundaries. Be observant of their body language; signs of stress or discomfort should always be taken seriously. Additionally, provide a varied diet that includes high-quality seeds, fresh vegetables, and occasional fruits, as this supports their health and well-being. Creating a safe environment is also important, ensuring their space is enriched with exploration opportunities while minimizing hazards. With patience and love, you can nurture your relationship with your little gremlins into a joyful lifelong companionship.
