Books I DNF
This is just a part one
Let me know your DNF books and why!
Please don’t come for me these are just my personal opinions!
When it comes to books I DNF (Did Not Finish), I believe it’s important to remember that reading is a deeply personal experience. Some of my notable DNFs include titles like Sarah J. Maas’s “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series, which I struggled to get past the first book despite its New York Times bestseller status. I found the storyline and characters didn't resonate with me personally, even though it has a huge fanbase. Another example is "It Ends With Us," which many praise for its emotional depth, but I found the pacing a bit slow and the plot less engaging than I expected. Similarly, "We Were Liars," despite being a thrilling bestseller, just didn’t hold my attention, and I found myself falling asleep while trying to read it. DNF’ing a book isn’t about judging the book’s quality universally but more about what fits your taste and mood at the time. Some books just don’t connect with every reader, and that’s perfectly okay. For instance, the mix of genres from romance to true crime, such as "Love in the Time of Serial Killers," might not appeal if you prefer more straightforward narratives. If a book doesn’t grip you in the first few chapters or if it bores you despite your expectations, stopping might save your reading energy for something better suited. Sometimes, it’s also about the reader’s state of mind or timing. I encourage fellow readers to share your own DNF stories and reasons because it opens up a healthy dialogue about reading preferences and avoids the stigma that not finishing a book is a failure. After all, books are meant to be enjoyed, and your time is valuable. What’s on your DNF list? Let's share and maybe find new recommendations or warnings! Remember, your personal opinions on books are valid, and this is a safe space to express them without judgment. Happy reading and happy DNFing!
