Lots of noises from that young knee 😂
Come down and get stretched
As someone who frequently works with clients experiencing knee noises, I've learned that these sounds, often described as creaking or popping, are common, especially in younger individuals. These noises usually result from the movement of tendons and ligaments over the joint or from gas bubbles in the synovial fluid popping. While often harmless, persistent noise accompanied by pain should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. In my personal experience, encouraging young clients to come down and get stretched has proven beneficial. Stretching helps improve joint flexibility and can reduce tension around the knee area. Simple stretches targeting the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calf muscles support knee stability and function. For example, standing quad stretches and seated hamstring stretches are easy to perform and effective. Additionally, strengthening the muscles around the knee can reduce noises by offering better joint support. Strength exercises, like leg raises and gentle squats, complement stretching well. I've found that combining stretching and strengthening routines tailored to client needs helps maintain knee health and minimizes discomfort or noisy sensations during activity. If you notice unusual noises from your knee or experience pain, consulting with a physical therapist or specialist for personalized assessments and exercises is always a good step. Early attention can prevent future issues and keep your knees feeling young and strong.
