Feeding them a balanced diet is key. Although they love grazing on algae, I found that supplementing their diet with protein-rich sinking wafers and occasional shrimp pellets really boosted their vitality and coloration. Also, it's important to remember that gold nugget plecos grow relatively large, reaching around 8–10 inches, so a spacious tank of at least 30 gallons is necessary for their comfort and development.
