Ingredients:

• 2 1/2 tsp Activated Yeast

• 1/2 cup Sugar

• 1/4 cup Melted Butter 🧈

• 2 large Eggs

• 4 cups Flour

• 1 tsp Salt

• 2 tbsp Red Food Dye

• 4 1/2 tbsp Cocoa Powder

• 48g flour + 226g milk ( Tangzhong )

Filling

• 3 tbsp Cinnamon

• 2 tbsp Softened butter

Cream Cheese Frosting ( Large Batch )

• 1 pack of Soften Cream Cheese

• 480g Sifted Powdered Sugar

• 28g Vanilla

• 1/2 cup Melted Butter

Instructions:

-Tangzhong: Heat both ingredients on the stove at a medium heat stirring continuously until it clumps up into a ball. Takes a few minutes!!

1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.

Add melted butter, eggs, and red food coloring, and tangzhong to the mixture until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.

3. Assemble the Rolls: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 15x9 inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly over the dough.

Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 8-12 equal pieces and place in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30-60 minutes until doubled.

4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool!!!

5. Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until creamy. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

6. Glaze and Decorate: Spread the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls. Sprinkle with heart sprinkles for a festive touch. Serve immediately and enjoy!!!

... Read moreIf you love baking and want to try a twist on traditional cinnamon rolls, using red velvet flavors is a fantastic way to celebrate Valentine's Day. The key to achieving those super soft and fluffy rolls lies in the Tangzhong method, which involves cooking a mixture of flour and milk to form a smooth paste before adding it to the dough. This technique helps retain moisture, giving your rolls that tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture. When preparing these cinnamon rolls, make sure to activate your yeast properly by dissolving it in warm milk with a pinch of sugar and letting it foam. This operation confirms that the yeast is alive and active, ensuring a good rise for your dough. Incorporating cocoa powder and red food dye into the dough not only gives the signature red velvet color and flavor but also pairs beautifully with the cinnamon-sugar filling. For the filling, softened butter combined with cinnamon creates the classic spicy sweetness that compliments the richness of the red velvet dough. Rolling the dough tightly into a log and cutting even slices helps your rolls bake uniformly. Allowing the rolls to proof again before baking results in those big, fluffy buns described in the recipe. Don't skip the cream cheese frosting! This luscious glaze balances the sweetness and adds a creamy element that elevates the dessert. You can adjust its consistency by adding milk gradually, making it perfect for spreading. To add a festive touch, sprinkle heart-shaped decorations on top once glazed. In my experience, preparing the dough a day ahead and refrigerating overnight after the first rise can enhance the flavors even more. When ready to bake, simply let them come to room temperature and proof again briefly before baking. This process makes the cinnamon rolls even more flavorful and tender. This recipe is not only great for Valentine’s Day but also makes a wonderful treat for any special occasion or weekend breakfast. I encourage you to experiment by adding nuts like pecans or walnuts to the filling or mixing a little cream cheese into the dough for extra richness. Baking these Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls is a delightful way to show love through homemade sweets, and sharing them with family and friends always brings joy. Give it a try and let me know how your rolls turn out!
