I met this beauty in 2021 and had never seen one in person. This is a Hypercompe scribonia often called the Giant Leopard Moth. The leopard spots pattern on their forewings make them less visible to predators but when threatened, they would fake death by curling their abdomen to show their bright blue and orange colorations and secrete a yellow drop of acid and bitter tasting fluid.
