goodnotes hex colors! 🎨

hello everyone!

here are some hex code palettes I've made which I like to use within Goodnotes. the first five slides can be used for pen colors, whereas the final slide may be used for highlighter colors!

there are two ways to add custom colors within Goodnotes:

1. the eyedropper tool

this is a new tool which was introduced recently for Goodnotes6. you can use this tool to identify colors within the document. import the hex code image onto your page and you can use the eyedropper tool to add the colors to your palette!

2. filling in hex codes

the eyedropper is a Goodnotes6 exclusive feature, so Goodnotes5 users do not have access to this tool. Goodnotes5 users can add custom colors to their palette by manually filling in the hex codes.

once you've chosen your color, you can start writing, drawing, or highlighting in your notebook. the selected color will be applied to your strokes or annotations.

If you’re like me and love making your notes both functional and visually appealing, customizing your color palette with hex codes is a game-changer. One tip I found especially handy is organizing colors into separate palettes for writing and highlighting, which helps keep your notes neat and easy to scan. For Goodnotes6 users, the eyedropper tool is incredibly useful. I usually import images or screenshots containing hex colors I want to use and then simply pick the shade directly from the page—saving so much time compared to entering codes manually. It’s a neat feature that really upgrades note-taking on the iPad. If you’re still on Goodnotes5, don’t worry! Manually typing hex codes might feel a bit tedious at first, but it’s straightforward once you get used to it. Having a list of your favorite hex palettes handy makes switching colors quick during study sessions or creative projects. Personally, I love pairing soft pastel palettes with more vibrant neon highlights to make important points pop. You can find tons of aesthetic hex code combinations online or create your own by experimenting with color wheels. Remember, the right palette not only beautifies your notes but also boosts your motivation to study or keep organized! Lastly, keep experimenting with color arrangements until you find what works best for you. Happy note-taking and coloring!
