switch home screens using focus modes - tutorial 💖

hi there! after my last post, I thought it would be nice to show a detailed tutorial on how to switch home screen themes using iOS focus modes!

apple introduced focus modes in iOS15 as a tool to help you stay focused and limit distractions. you can choose different focus modes, like work or personal, or even make your own custom focus. when you turn on a focus, it can quiet all the notifications on your phone or only let through the ones you need for what you're doing.

if you link a focus to your lock screen, you can easily turn it on by turning on said focus mode. you can also make a special home screen with only the apps you need for your focus or select your preferred pages to show up like I did in this tutorial.

all in all, focus modes made it a lot easier for us to switch home screens themes and there is no need to manually add and delete everything anymore! would you try this out? ✨

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen how awesome it is to switch your iPhone home screens with Focus Modes, right? Seriously, it's been a total game-changer for my digital life! When I first heard about linking Focus Modes to custom home screens, I thought it would be complicated, but it's surprisingly intuitive once you get the hang of it, especially after diving into the iOS 'Settings' app to set up a 'Custom' focus. One of the biggest benefits I've found is how much more organized my phone feels. No more scrolling through endless pages of apps when I'm trying to focus on work or winding down for the evening. For example, I have a 'Work' focus that automatically shows only my productivity apps and hides all social media. Then, when I switch to my 'Personal' or 'Chill' focus, I get my fun apps and a completely different aesthetic with gorgeous custom app icons and widgets. It's like having multiple iPhones in one! I love creating themed home screens for different seasons or moods. Right now, I'm rocking an 'autumn' theme with warm color wallpapers, and I have a 'winter' theme ready to go for the holidays, just like those beautiful examples I saw when setting up my 'wallpaper pairs'. The OCR results really highlight the potential for these "themed home screens" with options like 'sakura,' 'night,' and 'day' themes. It’s not just about hiding apps; it’s about creating a whole vibe! And don't even get me started on the aesthetic possibilities! If you're wondering how to get those cool custom app icons and unique widgets, I usually use the Shortcuts app for custom icons and third-party widget apps for those personalized touches. Once you've created your custom app icons and widgets, you can arrange them on a specific home screen page that you then link to a Focus Mode. This way, when your 'Night' focus activates, your phone can seamlessly transition to a darker, calmer layout with only essential apps, perfect for winding down. Think about it: Work Focus: Productivity apps, calendar widget, email. Personal Focus: Social media, entertainment, photo apps. Workout Focus: Fitness trackers, music, timer. Relax Focus: Meditation apps, e-reader, ambient sounds. The key is to create those dedicated home screen pages first, populate them with the apps and widgets you want, and then go into the 'Customise Focus' settings for your chosen Focus Mode (like the 'winter tut' one mentioned in the setup) to select which home screen pages appear. You can even link specific lock screen and home screen wallpaper pairs for a complete transformation. It's truly amazing how quickly you can switch multiple home screens with just a tap! I encourage you to experiment with different layouts and themes. It makes using your iPhone so much more enjoyable and tailored to your specific needs throughout the day. It’s all about making your tech work for *you*.
