Candle magic is a great way to ring in the new year & help manifest your goals. ✨
Here’s how:
1) Select your candle color, based on your intention. For instance, pink can represent self-love, green for growth or money, etc.
2) Inscribe symbols & words on your candle. These are linked to what you are manifesting. Some examples could be a symbol of a house if you want to find a new home. You can also make up sigils or add runes. For words, write or carve something that links to your goals, such as “Love” or “Focus” or “Family”. You can also write phrases or whatever else feels right. Usually a marker works for inscribing, but you may also choose to carve the words or symbols into your candle with a tool of your choice.
3) Anoint your candle with a fragrant oil of your choice, ideally one that matches your intentions and goals.
4) Dress the candle or base of the candle with herbs, such as rosemary for protection, rose petals for love, chamomile for peace, etc. You may use herbs from your kitchen, just be sure to research their meanings to better understand how they will help with your goals.
5) Add a circle of salt around the candle to add a layer of protection to your magic so that nothing may interfere.
6) Light your candle. Sit with it. Watch as the flame dances and the wax melts. What do you see? What are you thinking? Take this time to meditate. Feel free to also write down anything that comes to mind during this session, ideally in your grimoire. This way you can reference back & continue to push towards your goals and intentions in the new year.
... Read moreYou know, for years I struggled with really feeling like I was setting my intentions effectively. Then I discovered candle magic, and it completely changed my approach to manifesting! It's not just about lighting a flame; it's about pouring your energy and focus into a tangible act, and honestly, it's become one of my favorite rituals for not just the New Year, but anytime I need a boost.
Let's dive a bit deeper into making your magic candle truly potent. While the initial guide is fantastic, I've found that getting really specific with your choices amplifies the energy. For instance, beyond pink for self-love or green for money, have you considered blue for peace, communication, or healing? Or perhaps vibrant yellow for joy, creativity, and success? The more personal the connection you feel to the color, the stronger your intention becomes. And don't forget the power of a selenite stick nearby to cleanse and amplify the energy of your space and your candle!
When it comes to inscribing, I always spend a quiet moment really visualizing what each symbol or word represents. If I'm manifesting a new home, I might draw a simple house symbol and then write "stability" or "sanctuary" around it. Sometimes, I even create little sigils that condense my entire intention into a single powerful symbol. It's like whispering a secret wish directly into the wax!
Anointing with oils isn't just about fragrance; it's about an energetic blessing. For love, rose oil is classic, but jasmine oil, as I've used with my pink intention candle, also brings in elements of attraction and spiritual love. For prosperity, I love a blend of cinnamon and patchouli. Gently rub the oil from the middle of the candle upwards to draw things to you, or from the middle downwards to banish things.
And dressing the candle? Oh, this is where you can get so creative! Beyond rosemary for protection or rose petals for love, consider lavender for peace and calm, or even some gold flakes for abundance and divine connection – they look absolutely gorgeous shimmering on the wax! Just make sure your herbs are finely crushed or pressed close to the candle to prevent large flames. The salt circle, as mentioned, is non-negotiable for me; it creates a sacred boundary.
After your candle has burned down, the magic isn't over! I always keep a journal, my 'grimoire' if you will, to note down any thoughts or insights that come to me during my meditation with the flame. Sometimes, the melted wax itself tells a story. I've seen intricate shapes form—once, it looked exactly like a 'sitting cat,' which I interpreted as a sign of comfort and protection around my home goals. Another time, the wax resembled a 'dog laying down,' signaling loyalty and calm. These aren't just random shapes; they're whispers from the universe! Don't just discard the remnants either. If your intention was for something to grow or manifest, bury the wax and herbs in your garden or a potted plant. If it was for banishing, safely dispose of them away from your home.
Remember, candle magic is a practice of intention, focus, and belief. Always ensure you're practicing safely: never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from flammable materials, and use a heat-resistant surface. With these enhanced steps, I truly believe you can make your intentions for the New Year, or any time of year, shine brighter than ever!
