8 Free Resources To Learn French Online
I don’t know why I seem to love the number 8 but- here are 8 free resources for learning French online!
Some of the sites are old looking, but the info is good.
1-Français Interactif (Beginner-Intermediate)
Basic grammar and vocab lists. They also have a pdf you can grab with all of the info on it. Just note that the site is mostly monolingual. (No translations)
2-News in Slow French (Intermediate)
Choose between difference levels and get your listening practice in! They also have grammar and expressions articles.
3-French Today (Beginner-Intermediate)
Bilingual blog posts where you can show or hide the translations as needed. They touch on some cultural points as well.
4-Lawless French (All Levels)
This blog goes over specific topics including idioms, expressions and advanced grammar.
They have a filter where you can search lessons by level. They have levels A1-C1.
5-Français Facile (Intermediate-Advanced)
Monolingual lessons and tests to see which level you’re at. They also have a few other languages including Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese. Just note all of these lessons are in French.
6-Duolingo (Beginner-Intermediate)
I don’t normally like recommending this app since they don’t teach very useful phrases but hear me out. The French lessons are more developed than some of the other languages on the app and I think are worth checking out if you struggle with grammar and/or are looking for graded readers. (Check out stories section)
7-Language Transfer (Beginner)
I always talk about this app/site, because it’s really good! They have a few languages- but this post is about French. They have 40 French audio lessons for you to listen to.
8-Open University - French (Beginner-Advanced)
They have a short series of courses that are aimed at understanding spoken French. If you feel you sound too “text-booky” then give these a try.
