30 Day Language Learning Challenge

Let's start learning a new language and try to get ready for A1 content as fast as possible!

Your results may vary and don't get discouraged if you can't complete everything each day. It's important to get into the habit of studying and you will have made progress no matter what if you stick with it.

You can also use this technique to refresh a language you haven't used in a while, but I would increase the difficulty of the challenges in that case.

⭐️The Challenge: Spend 30-60 Min a Day Doing Each Task

*If the language has a different writing system than English, please add some time each day for studying that.*

Day 1: Learn Greetings, Basic Words (Yes/No, etc), Pronunciation

Day 2: Learn Sentence Structure + Where do adjectives go

Day 3: Get an overview of all Verb Conjugations

Day 4: Learn Pronouns + How to Address People

Day 5: Learn to be, to have, to go, to want and to do

Day 6: Learn 10 Nouns and Adjectives

Day 7: Listen to the language with subtitles, shadow for pronunciation

Day 8: Memorize 10-15 Survival Phrases

Day 9: Learn 10-20 Food Items/Dishes + How to order at restaraunts

Day 10: Learn Weather Vocab

Day 11: Learn vocab related to signs and posters

Day 12: Learn to take, to bring, to get and to help

Day 13: Learn present, past and future tenses for regular verbs

Day 14: Learn Family Vocab

Day 15: Learn the different ways of asking questions

Day 16: Learn Feelings Vocab

Day 17: Pick 10 Verbs of choice to learn

Day 18: Learn Animals + House-related vocab

Day 19: Learn how to express to, from, there, at

Day 20: Read a short story geared towards complete beginners (Like at storybookscanada)

Day 21: Learn hygiene related vocab (toiletries, bathroom, etc.)

Day 22: Learn compound sentences (Using and, or and but)

Day 23: Learn Numbers

Day 24: Learn how to talk about time and make plans with someone

Day 25: Learn Negation - How to say "not" something

Day 26: Learn Approximation words (some, any, never, etc)

Day 27: Learn how to compare (more, most, less, etc)

Day 28: Listen to the language again, with subtitles. See how much you can understand.

Day 29: Learn vocab related to your hobbies

Day 30: See how much you've learned, review and celebrate your success! Decide if you want to continue studying or not.

There is so much more to learn and I hope this guide gets you jumpstarted.

... Read moreOkay, so you're ready to dive into this 30-day language learning challenge! My biggest advice for getting started is to prepare properly. Before Day 1, take a moment for some 'language learning planning.' Decide which language you'll tackle and why. This personal connection will fuel your motivation, especially on days when you feel like skipping. Getting organized beforehand makes the journey smoother and more enjoyable. For me, the key to really making progress, especially when tackling 'language learning basics,' was my notebook. Just like the 'Turkish language notebook study' I did, having a dedicated space for 'language learning notes' is incredibly helpful. I recommend using different sections for vocabulary, grammar rules, and example sentences. Seeing your progress visually, and having everything in one place to review, makes a huge difference. Don't underestimate the power of good old pen and paper! Don't feel pressured to use a fancy 'language challenge app' if it doesn't suit your style. While some apps can be great, what matters most during this '30 days study challenge' is consistency, not the tool. There are tons of free resources online—YouTube, language exchange partners, or even just listening to music in your target language. The article's advice about listening with subtitles is golden! Even if you can only dedicate 15 minutes instead of the suggested 30-60 on a particular day, that's perfectly fine. Every little bit of effort counts towards building that language learning habit. One thing I learned during my own '30 day learning challenge' is the importance of flexibility. Life happens, and you might miss a day or two. Don't let that derail your entire effort! Just pick up where you left off. The goal isn't perfection, but consistent progress. Celebrate the small victories, like understanding a new phrase or correctly conjugating a verb. This positive reinforcement keeps you motivated. And what about after your '30 day language learning challenge' is complete? This challenge is just the beginning! Once you've established those 'language learning basics' and reached that initial A1 understanding, you'll have a fantastic foundation to continue your journey. If you're focused on '30 days English learning,' for example, you might want to find native speakers to chat with online or join a local conversation group. The habit you build in these 30 days will serve you well long-term. This experience taught me that committing to a '30 day learning challenge' is less about mastering a language in a month, and more about building an unbreakable habit and discovering the joy of continuous learning. You've got this!
