Study Smart 🫶 📚📚✨

ok real talk… i used to think studying longer meant i was being productive. like, 5–6 hour study days = surely i’m getting smarter right?? 😂

turns out... not really. my grades weren’t going up, and i still felt super overwhelmed.

so i started trying different techniques and tools. nothing fancy — just stuff that made learning actually stick better in my brain.

sharing 3 of the biggest things that helped me (especially in college where everything is just nonstop info dump 🧠💥)

one of my favs is chunking — basically breaking huge study goals into tiny pieces so your brain doesn’t short-circuit. like instead of “study anatomy,” it’s “memorize 3 bones today,” “review joint types tomorrow,” that kind of thing.

i organize those little tasks inside this app i love called TinyOrange 🍊. it’s super simple and color-coded which weirdly helps my motivation lol

the other two are active recall and interleaved practice — which sound super academic but they’re honestly just smart ways to keep your brain engaged and not bored to death. i explain them all in the post 💬

anyway if you’re in that season of “omg finals are coming and my brain is already tired” — hope this helps you a bit 🙃💛

save it for later or tag a friend who's also in survival mode lol

... Read moreHey everyone! Building on my last post about finally learning smart, I wanted to dive a little deeper because so many of you asked for more practical tips. It's easy to know about chunking or active recall, but how do you really make them stick in your routine? For Active Recall, it’s not just about flashcards! While they're great, try these: When you finish reading a section in your textbook or a research *paper*, close it and try to explain what you just read aloud in your own words, as if you're teaching someone. Or, before looking at your notes, jot down everything you remember about a topic. This forces your brain to retrieve information, strengthening those neural pathways. I even started creating my own mini-quizzes as I went, which was a game-changer for understanding dense material. Then there's Interleaved Practice. This isn’t just randomly jumping between subjects. It’s about strategically mixing different types of problems or topics within a study session. For instance, if you’re studying for a science exam, don't just do 20 biology problems, then 20 chemistry, then 20 physics. Instead, try doing 5 biology, then 5 physics, then 5 chemistry, and rotate. This helps your brain notice patterns and differences, making the learning more flexible and robust. It felt weird at first, but it totally helped me connect concepts across subjects, especially when I was reviewing old exam *papers*. Okay, let's talk about the tech side. I know everyone's talking about artificial intelligence and how it's changing everything. While I didn't personally use complex AI tools when I figured out my study system, I've definitely seen how simple apps (like TinyOrange for chunking!) can make a huge difference. You can find AI-powered flashcard generators or even AI tools that summarize long articles or papers for you, which helps a lot with the 'chunking' part. But here's my personal take: these are *aids*, not replacements. The core strategies – forcing your brain to retrieve info, mixing things up – still require your active engagement. AI can help you create the flashcards faster, but you still need to use them for active recall. It's about leveraging technology to make your human study strategies more efficient, not letting AI do all the thinking for you. The 'human intelligence' part of learning is what makes it stick! It’s all about working with your brain, not against it. Hope these extra tips help you feel less overwhelmed and more in control of your learning! Keep going, you got this! 🌟
