Sustainable Style Tips:
♠️ Quality > Quantity
Ask yourself will this style last throughout the years and even decades? Invest in fewer, higher quality pieces. Some of the highest quality pieces in my closet are thrifted or passed down styles. Most are made in Italy or Europe.
♠️ Natural Fibers > Synthetics
Natural fibers are better for your body and more sustainable. Synthetic fibers are made from fossil fuels and chemicals. Chemicals from synthetic fibers can be absorbed into your skin. Also after each wash cycle thousands of micro plastics are broken down and dispersed into the water supply. We currently don’t have the technology to filter out micro plastics from our drinking water or the fish we eat.
♠️ Classic > Trendy
Is this style trendy or a classic? Trends come and go but classics are forever. Trendy clothes can be extremely wasteful as they only “last” a season or two before being discarded. The same goes for fast-fashion.
♠️ Thrift & Thrive
Shop online or visit local thrift stores to find high quality and unique styles. So many pieces that were passed down or thrifted have lasted over 30 years for a reason. You can even score designers styles for a more affordable price. Thrifting makes shopping fun because you never know what you’ll find. It’s always an adventure!
♠️ Shopping for a Special Occassion
Buying a dress for a special event can be expensive and wasteful. If you are only planning to wear it once, try to borrow a dress from a friend or rent one online. There are many dress rental websites and it cuts the price in half.

Sustainable fashion is becoming increasingly important as consumers seek to reduce their impact on the environment. Modern shoppers can make intentional choices that prioritize quality over quantity. Opting for timeless, classic styles ensures longevity in your wardrobe, creating a more sustainable future. Investing in natural fibers like cotton, linen, and wool not only benefits your skin but also supports environmental health. These materials are biodegradable and don't contribute to the plastic pollution caused by synthetic fibers. Additionally, classic pieces tend to be more versatile, allowing for countless outfit combinations over the years. Thrift shopping has become a trendy and eco-friendly option, giving life to pre-loved garments while uncovering unique fashion finds. By venturing into vintage shops or online thrift stores, you can uncover treasures that reflect your personal style while minimizing waste. This exciting adventure in thrifting fosters creativity and uniqueness in your wardrobe. Lastly, consider clothes-sharing practices for special events. Renting or borrowing outfits helps avoid unnecessary purchases that contribute to fast fashion waste. Sites that specialize in dress rentals provide elegant options for those once-in-a-lifetime events without the burden of a hefty price tag. Embrace sustainable practices and enjoy the journey toward a stylish, eco-friendly wardrobe!
