It's not just lip gloss - it's a feeling ✨
Okay, so this is officially my first Lemon8 mini challenge, and I couldn't resist joining the #lippieholic fun 💋
I had to spotlight my favorite gloss - the one that makes me feel soft, confident, and put together even on chill days. There's something about that perfect shine that just hits different ✨️
I've used it so much that the label is a little worn - it used to say, "butter gloss", but now it says "butte gloss" (and even one of the S's is fading) 😂. Still my ride or die though 💁🏽♀️
For me - gloss isn't just makeup - it's that final touch that says, "I showed up for me today". 🫶🏼
And since I couldn't resist joining this challenge... you can definitely expect another post soon 😉
Let's be real - gloss girls just get it 😌💄

Okay, so we've all been there, right? You reach for your favorite lip gloss, ready to get that perfect 'softly glossed' look, and... wait a minute. What's that smell? 🤢 It's a total vibe killer! Since we're talking about our ride-or-die glosses, I wanted to share a few tips on why your lip gloss might start smelling a bit off, and how to keep it fresh so you can always experience that confidence boost without any surprises. First off, like any beauty product, lip gloss has a shelf life. Most glosses are good for about 12-18 months after opening. Beyond that, the ingredients can start to break down, and that's when things get funky. You'll often see a little symbol on the packaging – a jar with a number and 'M' (e.g., '12M' for 12 months). Keep an eye on that! If it's passed its prime, it’s definitely time to say goodbye. Another big culprit? Bacteria. Yep, it sounds gross, but every time you swipe your gloss on, you're introducing a tiny bit of your lips' environment (and whatever's on them!) into the tube. Over time, bacteria can build up, especially if you're sick or sharing your gloss (a big no-no!). This can cause not only a bad smell but also potential irritation for your lips. So, remember: personal gloss, personal use! Proper storage also plays a huge role. Leaving your gloss in a hot car or direct sunlight can speed up the breakdown of ingredients and make it go bad faster. Keep it in a cool, dry place – your makeup bag or a drawer is perfect. This helps preserve that delicious, subtle scent and the smooth, 'softly glossed' texture we all love. Speaking of delicious scents, let's talk about finding your perfect shade! While my go-to "butter gloss" might have a faded label, the NYX Butter Gloss line is famous for its incredible range and super comfy feel. If you’re looking to explore, have you ever tried a shade like 'Mango Moment'? It's one of those vibrant, juicy shades that can instantly brighten your day and give you that pop of color. Imagine a warm, peachy-orange hue that feels like a tropical escape, giving your lips a gorgeous, 'softly glossed' finish without being sticky. It's perfect for when you want to feel confident and playful, adding a touch of sunshine to your look. The beauty of these glosses is how they transform your mood. Whether you prefer a subtle nude or a bold, fruity shade like 'Mango Moment', finding that perfect gloss that feels good, looks good, and smells good is key to that ultimate 'I showed up for me today' feeling. So go ahead, find your favorite, keep it fresh, and let your lips do the talking!
