🛑 We need to STOP letting MEN define us. 🛑

Our bodies are not defined by the comments they tell us. @Lemon8comment

I have spent over half of my life starving myself, binging, and purging in order to be “good enough” for the men in my life.

In reality, the men in my life have never been good enough for me. No man would define my worth by my body shape. @Lemon8 Prod

I have struggled with body dysmorphia my entire life, thanks to the men I surround myself with.

On the other hand, I’ve learned the men I surround myself with aren’t worth the time of day.

I have found the version of myself I love, and that’s the version of myself I nourish, the version of myself I treat like a temple. @Rare Beauty @Lemon8 Beauty @Captain Lemon8

Body dysmorphia, a common psychological disorder that causes a distorted view of one’s body, often stems from external negative influences and unrealistic ideals. It is important to recognize that self-worth should never be tied to appearance or validation from others, particularly from men or societal expectations. The concept of treating your body as a temple encourages respect, care, and love for oneself. Nourishing your body means adopting healthy habits such as balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, adequate rest, and mental health support. Moreover, building self-esteem involves focusing on your unique qualities, talents, and achievements beyond physical appearance. Addressing and overcoming struggles like binging, purging, or starvation linked to trying to meet external standards requires compassionate self-awareness and often professional support. Therapy, support groups, and open discussions like those in the #GirlTalk and #AskLemon8 communities can provide valuable resources and emotional reinforcement. The included poetry in the OCR text conveys raw emotions about personal boundaries, vulnerability, and empowerment, resonating with those who have experienced similar struggles. It emphasizes the importance of not allowing others to inflict emotional harm and reclaiming power through self-love. In summary, this empowering message aligns with broader movements promoting body positivity and mental wellness. Women are encouraged to practice self-love, reject harmful societal norms, and cultivate a supportive environment that values their holistic well-being rather than appearance or approval from others.

Preach 🙌 as someone recovering from an eating disorder, this hits so deep. No man gets to decide my worth anymore… my body is mine, and I’m finally learning to love it for me.
