By acknowledging how we feel at any moment, we allow ourselves to better understand underlying causes and potentially improve our emotional health. For example, when I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself to pause and breathe, often writing down my mood to track patterns over time. Rating your mood or experiences can be surprisingly insightful. Giving a simple rating helps quantify feelings, making it easier to notice changes and triggers. Over time, these small reflective practices contribute to personal growth and resilience. Thinking aloud, whether through writing or speaking, encourages mindfulness — being present and engaged with your internal states. It’s a habit I recommend for anyone looking to deepen their self-connection and reduce mental clutter.
