Never taking for granted how lucky I am to still have her. ♥️

Growing up I watched her host every holiday, open her doors every Sunday to whoever was around for a home cooked meal, and she did it ALL with ease. She was always the one bringing everyone together, and looking back now, I realize just how much of that stuck with me.

And now I get to have HER sitting at MY table, eating the sauce she taught me how to make, and watching me carry these traditions that started with her. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to explain what that means to me.

The older I get, the more I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have grown up watching her and learning from her, and even luckier that I still have her here at 92 years old. My Mimi, my forever icon🥹♥️ #grandparents #mimi #grandparentslove

Watching her has been like observing a masterclass in hospitality and love—a genuine ability to bring family and friends together effortlessly through her warmth and kitchen magic. Growing up, her home was the epicenter of celebrations and Sunday meals, where everyone felt welcome and loved. One tradition I hold closest to my heart is the sauce recipe she lovingly passed down to me. It’s more than just food; it’s a connection to her, a symbol of the stories and values she instilled. Preparing that sauce in my own kitchen, often with her by my side, has become an intimate ritual that links past to present. It's a testament to how traditions can create continuity and comfort across generations. Maintaining these family customs reminds me of the importance of gratitude and respect for those who came before us. It’s incredible how such small, daily acts—sharing a meal, opening one’s home—form the foundation of cherished memories and identity. This experience has inspired me to not only preserve her legacy but also to share these moments with younger family members, hoping they too will carry these traditions forward. In a world that is constantly changing, these enduring family bonds offer stability and a sense of belonging. For anyone fortunate enough to have grandparents still present in their lives, I encourage embracing every moment, learning from their stories, and continuing the legacy of love and togetherness. After all, traditions are the threads that weave our family stories into the fabric of our lives.
