Chapter 1: The alarm clock and the truth that never changes.
The alarm clock from the mobile phone rang repeatedly.
"It's five o'clock..." Pim muttered to himself, reaching out to mute before lying still for a few minutes. The body was exhausted from yesterday's work, but the brain was awake.
She got out of bed, looked at the window of a small rental house in Bangkok. The street lights were still bright outside, but in Hua Pim thought of the same things that circle every morning - "Will it be enough today? The salary that hasn't been until the end of the month is almost gone."
Two elementary school-aged children still close their eyes on a five-foot mattress, flanking their mothers left and right, move a few times and lie down, and Pim's husband should have been out driving Grabb, serving passengers before she woke up.
She smells her two children's cheeks gently before getting up to cook rice, making a fried egg menu for her eldest son, an omelette menu for her youngest daughter, and making a cup of black coffee for herself, before quickly waking up the little boy who had to wake up three times to get up until he left home successfully at seven in the morning and walked to school at a public school near home before traveling to work as usual every day.
The MTR this morning was as tight as every day. Pim's body was squeezed so that it could barely move, but what was more uncomfortable was the feeling in her heart. She turned to look at the people around her - some pressing her mobile, some yawning, some stressful-faced - all the same. It was the people who had to leave the house every morning to redeem their salaries.
Pim is 42 years old, the job title is still the same, the salary is only increasing a little each year, but the expenses are skyrocketing. She has to send money to her parents in the province, raise two growing children, and still have installments and credit cards that are depressing.
She sighed softly...
"My life is like an alarm clock, how noisy it is, but finally wake up to the same truth."
