My Progress On My Garment
Here’s my progress of my garment I’ve Ben working on. I braded the yarn in the shoulders down to the arm and added some beads at the end. I have the other side to do but so far it’s turning out great. Thinking about ether braiding the ends or put beads on. What do you think I should do? #autism #autisticandproud #gaypride #lgbtqia #crafting
Creating a handmade garment like this requires patience and creativity, especially when incorporating different techniques like braiding yarn and adding beads. Braided yarn not only adds texture and durability but also a unique aesthetic that can make your garment stand out. When deciding between braiding the ends or adding beads, consider the overall style and function you want to achieve. Beads can add sparkle and elegance, making the garment more decorative, while braided ends offer a rustic, tactile finish that may be more practical for everyday wear. Incorporating personal touches is essential, especially for artists within the #autism and #autisticandproud communities, as crafting can be a therapeutic and expressive activity. Combining your interests and advocacy with your art, like supporting #gaypride and #lgbtqia, enriches the story behind your work and connects you with others who appreciate individuality and diversity. For those looking to try similar projects, start by selecting yarn with appropriate thickness and texture that suits braiding. Use beads compatible with yarn size and fabric strength to prevent damage. Experiment with different braid styles on small swatches to find what complements your garment best. Also, joining crafting forums and groups can provide valuable feedback and new ideas to enhance your creation. Overall, this project is a wonderful blend of craftsmanship, self-expression, and community engagement that highlights the meaningful connections and personal pride in handmade garments.

This is looking so cool! I love the colors you picked. I think beads would be super cute on the ends, but braiding them would also look really nice and textured. Maybe do beads on one side and braids on the other? 🤔
