I need to become a gym rat again…
Hey everyone! If you follow me, you know by now that I am a military girlie. I was in the best shape of my life when I left training and continued to go to the gym afterwards. I was OBSESSED!
Needless to say things got rough in life and I just stopped going. I want to feel the post gym self confidence again!
Just for fun, comment your favorite gym exercise or machine! I want to try your favorite to see if it can become one of mine as well!

It's so real when life throws curveballs and your gym routine flies out the window. I totally get that feeling of looking back at your peak fitness, maybe after a demanding period like military training, and realizing your 'scores plummeted' on your latest fitness test. That's exactly where the idea of a '21-day hard' challenge comes in – it's not just a trend, it's a proven way to reset habits and reclaim that incredible feeling of being 'physically and mentally fit'! So, what does a '21-day hard' challenge really mean? For me, it's about committing to a consistent routine for 21 days straight, enough time to start forming new habits. The 'hard' part isn't necessarily about killer workouts every single day, but about the discipline to show up, even when you don't feel like it. Like aiming for the gym 'at least 3 times a week' – that's a fantastic, achievable goal. Here’s how I approach it to make sure I stick with it and actually see progress: Set Clear, Small Goals: Instead of saying 'I'll get shredded,' try 'I'll complete 3 full-body workouts this week' or 'I'll increase my squat weight by 5 lbs.' Small wins build momentum. Find Your 'Why': For many, it's reclaiming their fitness and boosting 'self-confidence.' For you, it might be more energy, better sleep, or just feeling good in your clothes. Keep that 'why' front and center. Plan Your Week: Look at your schedule and literally block out your gym time. Treat it like a non-negotiable appointment. Having a rough workout plan helps too – maybe one day for upper body, one for lower, and one for a full-body circuit. This prevents aimless wandering once you're there! Embrace Variety: To keep things exciting, don't be afraid to try new exercises or machines! Discovering something new can ignite a spark and make workouts fun again. Track Your Progress (Even Small Wins): Remember the plummeting scores? Tracking helps you see improvement! It doesn't have to be complex. A simple notebook or a fitness app where you log sets, reps, and weights can be incredibly motivating. Seeing those numbers go up, or even just consistently hitting your 3-times-a-week goal, is a huge boost to your 'self-confidence.' Don't Forget Fuel & Rest: You can't expect your body to perform optimally if you're not giving it the right fuel and enough recovery. Focus on nutritious meals and aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. This is crucial for feeling 'physically and mentally fit.' Community & Accountability: Tell a friend your goal, or better yet, find a gym buddy! Even sharing your journey on platforms like Lemon8 can provide amazing support and keep you accountable. A '21-day hard' challenge isn't about perfection; it's about consistency and building a foundation. It’s hard work, but the feeling of achieving those short-term goals and slowly getting back to feeling strong and confident? Absolutely priceless. I'm excited to see how this challenge transforms not just fitness levels, but overall well-being. What steps are you taking to get back on track?
