Yes, I know you probably already have a tablet or youre on the other camp and don't do screens. We are a limited screen house of 3 kids and this was the best gift I ever gave my reluctant reader. We wanted to encourage her to read but couldn't get to the library as much as we liked.
We didn't want to do a tablet because we knew she would wander onto other apps. She went from reading maybe a book every other month at 9 to finishing a book every 2 weeks and asking for more.
We use the Libby app for free check outs from the library and they can be sent right to her device. Once a book is downloaded, you can read it even without wifi being available. Downloads are super quick and easy. Recently we added the kindle unlimited because her younger brother saw how much she was reading ans has started devouring books faster than I can check them out.
