Go date yourself 🌸
Whether you have a partner or not, you need to take yourself out on your dream dates. Solo. I especially want to give this advice to girls who have partners.
Reasons why:
- Healthy Space: Sometimes your partner doesn’t want to do the same things as you do. That is PERFECTLY normal. But don’t sit around and wait for them to do those things with you…especially while summer is here!
While your partner is busy, go romance yourself! You deserve to go on your mini adventures and feel like an adventurous hottie and not be a lady in waiting! (lol)
- Self-Care: Solo dates are a form of self-care, giving you the chance to prioritize your own needs, interests, and well-being.
- Freedom: You have the freedom to choose activities that you genuinely enjoy without having to compromise or consider someone else's preferences. It’s all you, baby!
It’s really common to defer or negotiate with your partner on what you both consider to be fun. That constant compromising is great but can leave a gap in what you actually want to do.
- Confidence Building: Spending time alone can boost self-confidence and teach you to be comfortable and content in your own company. This is something I personally try to practice to avoid codependency on my partner. Also, when you’re always out with someone, you may find it hard not to exist in public places without your significant other or friend. It’s always good to strengthen that solo muscle.
- Stress Relief: Solo dating can provide a break from the demands and pressures of daily life, offering a chance to relax and recharge.

When I first heard the idea of taking myself on a solo date, I admit I was a little skeptical. Why would I do that alone? But honestly, it's become one of the most rewarding practices in my life. It’s not just about spending time alone; it’s about intentionally carving out moments to truly nurture your connection with yourself, making them your very own dream dates. After realizing how much joy and growth I gained from these experiences, I started collecting a list of my favorite solo date ideas that truly helped me on my journey of self-discovery. Whether you're looking for simple ways to unwind or exciting adventures, there's always something you can do to take yourself on a date. Here are some of my go-to solo date ideas, perfect for anyone looking to reconnect and have some fun: For the Relaxed Soul: Café Hopping & Journaling: Grab your favorite book or a journal and find a cozy coffee shop. Sip on a latte, observe the world around you, and let your thoughts flow onto paper. It’s a wonderful way to process your day and clear your mind. Spa Day at Home (or Out): Treat yourself to a luxurious bath with essential oils, a face mask, and some calming music. If your budget allows, book a massage or a facial. This is pure self-care fuel. Nature Walk/Hike: Find a beautiful park, a scenic trail, or even just a quiet neighborhood. Put on some headphones with your favorite podcast or music, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature. It’s incredibly grounding. For the Adventurous Spirit: Museum or Art Gallery Visit: Explore an exhibition at your own pace. I love being able to linger on pieces that catch my eye without feeling rushed. It’s a fantastic way to stimulate your mind and get inspired. Try a New Restaurant or Cuisine: Book a table for one at that trendy spot you've always wanted to try. Enjoy the food, savor the flavors, and people-watch. It’s empowering to dine alone and truly focus on the culinary experience. This definitely covers fun activities for singles who want to explore their city's food scene! Day Trip to a Nearby Town: Hop on a train or drive to a place you've never been. Wander through local shops, visit historical sites, and soak in a different atmosphere. It feels like a mini-vacation! For the Creative/Learning Enthusiast: Take a Class: Whether it's painting, pottery, cooking, or even a dance class, learning something new independently is incredibly fulfilling. You meet new people, gain a skill, and challenge yourself. Go to a Concert or Movie: Experience live music or a new film without any distractions. You can fully immerse yourself in the performance. Making the Most of Your Solo Dates (Tips I've learned): Silence Your Phone: This is crucial. Disconnect from distractions and truly be present in the moment. Be Observant: Pay attention to your surroundings, the people, the details. You'll notice things you never would if you were engrossed in conversation. Reflect: After your date, take a few minutes to think about how you felt, what you learned, and what you enjoyed most. This is where the self-discovery truly happens. Journaling about it helps cement the experience. Don't Be Afraid to Look "Alone": Many people worry about looking like they have no friends. But honestly, most people are too focused on themselves to notice, and those who do often admire the confidence! This advice applies equally to solo dates for men and solo date ideas female – confidence is key for everyone. Embracing solo dating has shown me that I don't need external validation to have fun or feel complete. It's about building a strong, loving relationship with yourself, and that's a journey worth embarking on.
