Uji City of Green Tea
Anyone who loves green tea can say that Uji is on the list, a small town along the Uji River that takes a short train ride from Kyoto or Osaka. When you walk out of the station, the atmosphere changes immediately from the chaos of the big city to the quiet, with mountains, beautiful water arches, and the fragrance of green tea welcome from the corridor.
🚉, starting in front of Uji Station, just stand and look at the Japanese feed, very rural, wooden house, small shop, warm atmosphere. A few minutes later walk to the green tea shopping street. The second side of the road is full of tea shops, candy shops and souvenirs. Every stop has almost the word "tea." Matcha lovers are walking until they don't want to run out of alley.
🌿 The food here says a great variety. Not just hot or cold green tea, but everything from green tea soba, green tea, green tea dumplings, green tea powder sprinkles, to soft cream matcha that gives a full ten, not broken. Eat and be a little bitter, smelly, not too sweet. Who is the green tea line?
The ☕ waterfront cafe is another highlight. Walk to see an old tea shop with beautiful gardens and Uji River views. Just order a glass of matcha lattes and look at the Red Bridge and the mountains behind it is super comfortable, like a slow walk.
📸 The landmark that can't be missed is the statue of Murasaki Shikibu, a female writer in the Heian period who wrote The Tale of Genji, the world's first novel, located on the edge of the water, took a couple of pictures and turned to see the bridge and the mountain behind it, which is very beautiful.
🚶♀️ The stroll along the river is the most enjoyable. The atmosphere is quiet. There is a long stone walkway. The Japanese students walk in groups. The cooler the weather, the strong wind, the real tourist atmosphere without rush.
🛍️ If anyone wants to buy a deposit, there are many green tea snacks to choose from, including mochi, yatsuhashi, green tea cheesecake or matcha powder that can be bought back for themselves. Prices range from hundreds of yen to premium packages for those who want luxury items.
Overall, Uji is a city that walks all day without boredom, suitable for people who want to chill out of big cities, and with the most green tea. This is not only delicious food, but also historical, artistic and cultural stories.
💚 If you have a day in Kyoto or Osaka, you are advised to come here and you will understand why Uji is called the city of green tea. 🍵
