Outfits I’ve worn pregnant
Getting dressed is so difficult when it comes to dressing the whole new body that comes with pregnancy. Half the time I throw on a big t-shirt and call it a day, but getting ready and feeling good, even if it’s still in a cozy outfit, makes me feel so much better mentally and physically. These are a few of my favorites and go-to outfits for a few different occasions throughout my pregnancy. In currently nearing the end with only a few weeks left so certain outfits are on repeat! Okay, mamas, let's talk about what happens after the bump! The original post shared my favorite pregnancy outfits, but the journey doesn't just stop once baby arrives. What to wear after delivery, especially during that postpartum phase, can be just as tricky as dressing the bump itself, if not more so! I found myself constantly asking, "What should I wear after giving birth that's both comfortable and makes me feel somewhat put-together?" My biggest realization was that comfort is still queen, but now with added considerations like ease of feeding (if you're breastfeeding) and accommodating a still-changing body. Forget about squeezing into your old jeans right away; embrace that beautiful postpartum belly! My go-to pieces immediately after delivery were soft, high-waisted leggings and oversized long-sleeve t-shirts or flowy tunics. Think about fabrics that feel gentle against your skin – cotton blends or modal are amazing. For those first few weeks at home, I practically lived in comfortable loungewear. My uniform often involved soft green sweatpants or dark gray cargo pants paired with a simple ribbed top or a cozy gray tank top. These were perfect for lounging, napping with the baby, and those constant trips to the kitchen. Look for pieces that have good stretch and aren't restrictive. A fuzzy zip-up jacket or a soft black cardigan was a lifesaver for layering, especially since my body temperature felt all over the place. If you're planning on breastfeeding, investing in some nursing-friendly tops or dresses is a game-changer. I loved wrap-style tops or those with discreet access. Even a simple white cropped t-shirt can work wonders when layered over a nursing tank. Wide-leg pants, like those white or brown wide-leg pants from my pregnancy looks, continued to be incredibly useful for their comfort and ease. And what about getting back into some gentle movement? While the article didn't specifically dive into workout pregnancy clothes, the postpartum period often brings a desire for comfortable activewear for walks or light exercise. Look for high-waisted leggings that offer gentle compression and support. A good sports bra is essential, especially if you're nursing. I found that many of my comfortable pregnancy leggings and sports bras transitioned perfectly into postpartum workout wear. Even a simple striped sweater could be thrown over activewear for a quick coffee run. Ultimately, the key for postpartum wear is versatility and making you feel good. Just like during pregnancy, finding outfits that are adaptable, lightweight, and comfortable can make all the difference in your mental and physical well-being. Don't be afraid to mix and match. Those denim jackets or patterned open shirts you loved while pregnant? They'll still add a stylish touch to your postpartum basics. Embrace this new phase with clothes that support and celebrate your incredible body!
