The ugly side of motherhood

4 kids. I am always told my “hands are full”. Yes, yes they are. Some days I want to pull my hair out and just run away. Some days the kids are just bouncing off the walls and while I try my HARDEST to break the cycles of what I grew up with sometimes mama just snaps. I am scared to go to the grocery store by myself because of the “what ifs”. What if my 2 year old gets away from me? What if someone grabs my 6 year old? It’s rare I honestly go anywhere by myself with all of my kids and that’s definitely something I am working on with my anxiety. I work my ass off every single day with my business but obviously with owning a small business it has its highs and lows. I’m definitely in a low right now which brings up financial anxiety. Just know mama you aren’t alone. Them kids are ALOT some days. Anxiety is a bitch and it’s ok to want to just hide some days.

The anxiety that accompanies parenting can manifest in various ways, from the fear of losing your child in a public place to the daily struggles of managing multiple responsibilities. Many parents experience 'mom guilt' where they feel they are not doing enough or not meeting societal expectations. It's crucial to recognize that wanting a break or feeling exhausted is entirely normal. Taking time for self-care is not selfish; it’s essential for mental health. Moreover, sharing experiences with other parents can provide a sense of community and support. You are part of a larger group facing similar hurdles. Consider seeking parental support groups, both online and offline, where you can share tips on coping mechanisms and practical advice for handling overwhelming days. Finally, remember that it's okay to seek professional help if anxiety becomes unmanageable. Therapists and counselors can offer valuable strategies for coping and provide a space to express your emotions without judgment. Acknowledging the 'ugly' sides of motherhood opens the floor for dialogue and can lead to healing and understanding.
