... Read moreAfter sharing my personal rankings of the Disney Zombies movies, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why I feel the way I do about each one. It's more than just a quick rating; it's about the journey these films take us on, the amazing characters, and those catchy tunes!
Let's start with the original *ZOMBIES*. For me, it's a foundational piece. The introduction of Zed and Addison, the tension between the zombies and cheerleaders, and the groundbreaking message of acceptance immediately hooked me. The Seabrook High setting felt so familiar, yet the zombie element made it fresh. It truly set the stage for everything that followed, and the music? Absolutely iconic! It's hard to beat the nostalgia and the pure heart of the first film, which really laid down the groundwork for the whole Disney Zombies universe.
Then came *Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2*. Oh my gosh, this one took everything up a notch! The arrival of the werewolves brought a whole new layer of conflict and diversity to Seabrook. I loved seeing Zed and Addison's relationship deepen, and the themes of finding your pack and embracing your true self really resonated with me. The musical numbers in this sequel felt even more energetic, and I often find myself humming songs like 'We Got This' or 'Flesh & Bone'. It definitely holds a special place in my heart, and for good reason – the character dynamics and the expansion of the world were just brilliant, making it arguably the best Zombies movie for many fans.
*Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3* was an interesting turn with the introduction of the aliens. While I appreciate the effort to keep the story fresh, the 'Addison as an alien' storyline felt a bit out of left field for me, as I mentioned in my rating. It was a bold choice, and while it brought some cool new visual effects and concepts, I personally felt it shifted the focus away from the core zombie/human/werewolf dynamic that I loved so much. Still, the message of unity against a common, external threat was strong, and there were still plenty of fun moments and dazzling choreography. It's an important part of the Disney Zombies movies in order, showing how the world continues to grow.
And finally, *Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4 DAWN OF THE VAMPIRES*! Okay, when I first heard about vampires joining the mix, I was ecstatic! New characters always bring new energy, and this movie delivered on that front. I absolutely loved the fresh blood (pun intended!) and how they integrated into the existing Seabrook community. It felt like a return to form for me, focusing on how different groups can learn to coexist and even thrive together. The visuals were stunning, and the new musical styles were a welcome addition. It really felt like a vibrant new chapter, and I'm so excited to see where the franchise goes next with these new dynamics.
Thinking about all the films, it's clear that the Disney Zombies series consistently delivers messages about acceptance, diversity, and standing up for what's right. Whether it's Zed fighting for zombie rights or Addison bravely bridging gaps between groups, these characters inspire. And honestly, who can forget some of the memorable quotes? 'Together, we can change the world!' or 'We are who we are!' – they stick with you. Each movie, in its own way, contributes to this larger narrative, making it a beloved series for so many fans. It's not just about the monsters; it's about the heart and the lessons we learn from the amazing Disney Zombies characters.
I mostly agree but 4.Zombies 1 don’t get my wrong I LOVE this movie and I can’t sing the songs word for word but to me it just feels like a “get to know the characters and who they are” movie. 3.Zombies 4 I LOVE this movie especially because it has Malachi Barton in it you didn’t hear that… but most of the OG characters are gone and that makes me sad but the songs are FIRE!
