Throwback 5 years

5 years ago my sons father tried to take his life along with mine. 5 years of struggling to be normal and get back to what he was before. He pushed so hard even though it was a tough road. I will never forget the pain or the feeling of my own son's blood all over my face. Nor will i forgot his plead for his father to please not shoot me. #throwback #2025recap #stories

Watching my son slowly recover after being shot in the head by his own father has been both heartbreaking and inspiring. Those moments when his blood was on my face and he begged his father not to hurt me are etched painfully in my memory, yet they also reinforce the preciousness of life and the strength of family bonds. Over these five years, the journey has been anything but easy. Each step forward required courage and relentless determination—not just from my son, but from all of us supporting him. His progress, though slow at times, has been a beacon of hope. Witnessing him thrive today is a testament to the power of love, medical care, therapy, and community. Mental health struggles and family tragedies like this are often hidden behind closed doors, but sharing our story has helped me connect with others facing their own battles. If you or someone you love is coping with trauma, know that healing is possible, even if the road is long. Reaching out for professional help, cultivating patience, and holding onto moments of progress can transform despair into hope. This throwback not only honors the painful past but celebrates survival, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of my son. I hope sharing this encourages others to speak openly about mental health and violence and to find strength in their own stories of recovery.
