context for the 7th slide: i took her to my parents’ house for the weekend after struggling to get her inside her carrier because she HATES it. because it’s a new place for her, she was really shy and sorta hid in my room the whole first day. the next morning she finally but cautiously comes out of my room and approaches me and i pet her. she got a little more confident i guess and started asking my mom and dad for pets from them constantly (meowing, brushing their legs). they gave her what she want and then within a second after that, she disappeared before anyone even noticed her run off, and she was IN HER CARRIER!! willingly 😂
Beyond her epic carrier adventure, Nani, my two-year-old tortoiseshell cat, truly fills my days with joy and a little bit of chaos! If you're a #Petlover, you'll totally get it. Every morning starts with her dramatic stretching and demanding breakfast – she definitely knows how to make herself heard! Watching her eat with such gusto is always a laugh. Her day usually involves a lot of exploring, especially finding new spots to pose for the camera (she’s a natural!). She loves to play with anything from a crinkly ball to a rogue hair tie. It's never a dull moment. And yes, she does occasionally love to scratch furniture – a battle I'm still gently fighting with various scratch posts! She's genuinely a mix of playful energy and deep affection. What truly defines Nani, though, is her incredible ability to sleep. Seriously, if you've ever wondered why cats nap so much, you'd understand just by watching her. From curled up under a light blue blanket to sprawling out on her back, she has a million adorable sleeping positions. One minute she’s chasing a toy, the next she’s completely conked out, often in the most unexpected places. It’s not just naps; it’s a lifestyle, and it perfectly explains why 'Nani sleep' is such a common sight in our home. Tortoiseshell cats, like Nani, are known for their unique personalities – often described as 'tortitude' – and Nani is no exception. She's incredibly independent and fiercely loyal, but also surprisingly sensitive, especially when it comes to new environments or strangers. I've found that understanding her 'tortitude' helps me meet her needs better. For instance, her shyness with strangers, as mentioned in her recent visit to my parents' house, is a classic tortie trait. For anyone with a new furry friend or trying to understand their cat's quirks, I've learned a few things from Nani. Patience is key, especially with carriers! The trick with Nani (and many cats) is to make the carrier a positive space, not just for vet visits. Leaving it out with treats or a comfy blanket can work wonders. And when they finally be sassy and confident, like Nani getting into her carrier willingly after a big day, it's the most rewarding feeling. She's truly taught me so much about feline behavior, and even when she's being a little diva, she still manages to be cute!!
