Book Review
This book, the third in its series, was quite enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the engaging banter between Winter and Asher.
Winter is portrayed as a solitary, affluent young woman who has experienced disappointment from those around her throughout her life. Her primary desire is to be chosen by those who profess to care for her. To just be there.
Asher, on the other hand, is a man who consistently prioritizes the well-being of others over his own.
Their relationship is characterized by a dynamic of push and pull, with their pride , fear and egos ultimately creating further complications. Nevertheless, their witty exchanges and playful interactions keep you turning the pages to find out their next moves will be.
Reading this book, I was struck by how well the enemies-to-lovers trope was executed, especially through the dynamic between Winter and Asher. Winter’s character, a wealthy young woman craving genuine connection despite past disappointments, feels deeply relatable. Many readers might recognize the universal desire to be truly seen and chosen by others, which the author captures beautifully. Asher’s selflessness and constant prioritization of others adds a compelling contrast, creating tension and empathy throughout the story. The interplay of pride, fear, and ego that complicates their relationship reminded me how challenging real-life relationships can be, especially when two people care deeply yet struggle to express it. The witty and playful exchanges not only provide relief from the tension but also build authentic chemistry between the characters. It reflects how humor and banter can be powerful tools in romantic development. Additionally, the themes of fake dating and sports backgrounds, hinted at by the OCR keywords like "enemies to lovers," "hockey," and "fake dating," enrich the plot and resonate well with popular romance trends. For fans of hockey romance or stories featuring complex personal growth within romantic contexts, this book offers a satisfying blend of emotional depth and engaging storytelling. Overall, the book provides a refreshing take on the hockey romance genre by focusing on character development and emotional authenticity, making it a rewarding read for those who appreciate layered, relationship-driven narratives.
