Book Review
This was my initial experience with a book by Lucy Score, and I am thoroughly captivated. The engaging dialogue, tender instances, and humorous interludes truly made this book exceptional. I am so enchanted that I wish I could relocate to the town depicted. The narrative centers around the characters of Summer and Carter.
Summer is portrayed as a dedicated professional, yet also a kind-hearted individual eager to assist others. She undertakes an assignment to write an article about an organic farm, and departs with a richer experience than anticipated.
Carter, a benevolent farm owner, is equally committed to supporting those in his community. As a veteran, he consents to an article being written about his farm. What he gains is an encounter with a woman he feels compelled to claim.
I must also acknowledge the side characters. The brothers, Phoebe, Joey, Nikolai, and the animals significantly enhanced the book's appeal.
Reading Lucy Score’s book felt like a breath of fresh air, especially because of how authentically the author captures small-town charm and community life. The depiction of an organic farm not only provides a beautiful setting but also highlights the increasing popularity and value of sustainable living and local farming, which adds depth to the story. Summer’s journey from a professional writer assigned to an organic farm to someone deeply connected with the place and its people really resonated with me. It reminded me of how stepping outside our usual routines can lead to unexpectedly rich experiences and relationships. Carter’s character as a veteran brings another layer of respect and empathy to the narrative, showcasing how community support and personal healing can intertwine. What stood out were the side characters—the brothers, as well as Phoebe, Joey, Nikolai, and the farm animals—who aren’t just add-ons but feel like integral parts of the story’s fabric. Their presence adds humor and warmth, enriching the main plot and making the town feel alive and inviting. This contemporary romantic comedy is very much in line with Lucy Score’s reputation as a New York Times bestselling author known for third-act break-ups and heartfelt happy endings (HEA). It’s a beautifully executed blend of emotional depth, small-town romance, and lighthearted moments that kept me turning pages eagerly. For anyone interested in romance novels that combine real-life issues, community spirit, and feel-good storytelling, this book is a perfect pick. If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping to a peaceful town with organic farms and quirky locals, this novel delivers that atmosphere in spades.
