Book Review
This was a charming book that I recently came across, and I found it both entertaining and heartwarming. The story follows Dakota, a single mother who has been running away from her past, and now must confront it. She is faced with the challenge of revealing to the man she had a one-night stand with that he is the father of her child. Additionally, she must navigate the complexities of her childhood home and decide on the next steps regarding it. Furthermore, she develops feelings for both Reid and Sawyer.
What I sincerely hope we could include more of is the backstories of the main characters and the history of their friendships.
High Ridge Ranch Cowboys by Lacey Day is a captivating story set in a quaint small town, blending romance and emotional growth. What truly stands out in this novel is how it explores the life of Dakota, a single mother grappling with her past decisions and unexpected parenthood. The tension created by her need to reveal the father of her child adds an engaging layer to the plot, keeping readers invested in her journey. The dynamics between Dakota and the two men, Reid and Sawyer, bring an intriguing love triangle element that readers of contemporary romance often appreciate. The novel also delves into the significance of hometown ties, as Dakota must confront her childhood home, evoking themes of family, forgiveness, and self-discovery. From my experience reading similar small-town romance novels, I find that the authentic character development and grounded, relatable settings truly enhance the story’s emotional depth. While the pacing of the story was enjoyable, I share the hope expressed in the original review that future installments or similar works by the author could expand more on the main characters’ backstories and the friendships that shape them. These elements would offer added richness and connection to the characters’ motivations and growth. Overall, High Ridge Ranch Cowboys is highly recommended for readers who enjoy wholesome, heartfelt romances with strong emotional narratives and a touch of suspense surrounding family secrets. It fits well within the popular HEA (Happily Ever After) genre and celebrates themes of love, resilience, and starting anew.
