A young girl from Chiang Mai who worked in the business world, didn't grow up from a military camp, didn't pass cadet school, didn't have a bureaucratic base.

But one day she won the trust of more than 15 million people to become Thailand's first female prime minister.

It's only been 49 days.

For nearly three years in office, the government of Yingluck Shinawatra left a mark on the Thai economy.

Corporate income tax was cut from 30% to 20% to increase the country's competitiveness.

.

The minimum wage of 300 baht was pushed to a nationwide reality despite being predicted in advance that Thai business would collapse.

.

A bachelor's degree salary of 15,000 baht became the new standard of the labor market.

.

The first car project boosted the auto industry and domestic consumption.

.

The Thai economy, which had just undergone a major flood in 2011, recovered, reaching 7.2 percent growth the following year.

.

The government plans a balanced budget by 2017, along with pushing forward a plan to invest 2.2 trillion in infrastructure, both high-speed rail, dual-rail and mass transit systems connecting the country.

Several projects were later picked up and continued by the latter government.

.

Even the solution to the $1.14 trillion recovery fund debt that inherited the Tom Yum Shrimp crisis was restructured to a huge reduction in public debt.

As Thailand's first female defense minister, she opted for a smile instead of a snapping voice, used harmonization instead of confrontation, and tried to balance the civilian government with the military throughout her tenure.

But Thai politics is never judged by works alone.

In late 2013, the country entered a new round of conflict; she dissolved parliament, restored power to the people, and opened the way to elections.

The election can't happen.

The acting government was discharged.

And then the tank left the Regiment again.

May 22, 2014, became the day history revolved back to repeat itself.

The brother was seized power in 2006.

The sister was seized power in 2014.

.

One returned home after a long wait; the other still lived far from the hometown.

From Thailand's first female prime minister to a political refugee.

From people who signed the land bill, they became people who didn't even have the right to return and wish themselves a birthday in the house they came from.

More than a decade later, many of the trains that had been on the plan had already begun construction, but had not yet made progress despite spending a larger budget.

The minimum wage is higher than the 300 baht, even if it's not as far away as it should be...

.

Many policies were revised, some were repealed, some were continued.

.

But the image of the first female prime minister walking out of the country on a night in August 2017 remains one of the most vivid political memories of the era.
