I’m melting….
Summer can bring intense heat that often makes us feel like we're melting, just as many people describe, especially during heatwaves. From my own experience, staying hydrated is the absolute key. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty, helps your body regulate temperature and prevents heat exhaustion. I also find that wearing lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothes allows air to circulate better and reflects sunlight, keeping me cooler. Another useful tip is to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Whenever possible, seek shade or stay indoors with air conditioning or fans. When outside, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses are excellent accessories to protect your face and eyes from harsh sun rays. Applying a high-SPF sunscreen can prevent sunburn, which only adds to discomfort in hot weather. For those who, like me, tend to get uncomfortable even indoors when it’s hot, cold compresses or splashing your face and wrists with cool water instantly refresh and cool down your body temperature. Staying mentally prepared with activities that aren’t physically strenuous helps too. I often read or listen to music instead of rigorous exercise when it’s scorching outside. Finally, a fun tip I discovered is to cut up fresh fruits like watermelon or cucumber. Their high water content and refreshing taste not only keep you hydrated but also lift your mood and reduce the feeling of melting under the sun. Heat can be daunting, but with these small lifestyle adjustments, summer can be much more bearable and even enjoyable.
