Mahab by Nusuk

When I first heard about Mahab by Nusuk, my expectations were pretty high. The buzz around Nusuk perfumes often points to unique, long-lasting scents, and I was eager to get my hands on this one. The description of notes like fennel, incense, and red fruits in the top, followed by peach, osmanthus, and jasmine in the middle, and finally sandalwood, rose, and musk in the base, sounded incredibly intriguing. I envisioned a complex, evolving fragrance that would be perfect for cooler evenings or a special occasion. However, my personal experience with the Nusuk Mahab perfume was quite different from what I’d hoped for. From the very first spray, my nose was immediately hit with an intense blend of rose and musk. It wasn’t a delicate, fresh rose, nor a soft, inviting musk. Instead, it felt quite heavy and almost cloying to me, overshadowing everything else. I kept waiting for those bright red fruits, the juicy peach, or the creamy sandalwood to emerge, but they simply didn't make an appearance on my skin. It was almost as if the rose and musk notes decided to throw a dominant party and didn't invite the other guests. I've seen some discussions online mentioning notes like gourmand, caramel, and even oud in Mahab by Nusuk. This really surprised me, as I genuinely didn't detect any of those elements in my sampling. My impression was purely floral-musky, leaning heavily into a more traditional, perhaps even vintage-style rose. It makes me wonder if there are different formulations, or perhaps how skin chemistry can dramatically alter how a fragrance develops. For those who love a bold, unapologetic rose paired with a deep, animalic musk, this might be exactly what you're looking for. But for someone like me, who prefers a more balanced or fresher take on these notes, it was a bit overwhelming. Beyond the scent itself, I have to give credit where it's due to the presentation. The Mahab Nusuk perfume bottle is quite eye-catching. I really liked the aesthetic of the peach-colored bottle, which felt elegant and soft. And the clear cap with its subtle glitter detail added a lovely touch of luxury. It certainly looks beautiful on a vanity, promising a much more nuanced scent experience than I ultimately had. It’s a shame the juice inside didn't quite live up to the visual appeal for my personal taste. In conclusion, while Mahab by Nusuk didn't become a favorite for me due to the prominent rose and musk, I can see how it might appeal to others. If you're someone who is drawn to strong, traditional rose fragrances with an undeniable musky base, and perhaps enjoy a touch of that "classic" perfume feel, then I'd still recommend giving it a sniff. Just be prepared for those two notes to really take center stage. For me, it was a definite 'no,' but that's the beauty of fragrance – it's so personal!
