Goals
A goal is not just a big achievement or something society can see. A goal is the reason you keep going, even when it’s hard. For some people, a goal means:
- financial stability
- supporting family
- building a career
- buying a house
- getting married
But for others — especially those living or working abroad — a goal can be:
- surviving one more year overseas
- becoming emotionally stronger
- healing from past pain
- choosing peace over pressure
and finally choosing yourself after long sacrifices
A goal can change as you grow.
It doesn’t mean you failed. It means you evolved.
Sometimes the goal is not “success.”
Sometimes the goal is inner peace, self-respect, or a life that doesn’t drain you.
no one else gets to decide what your finish line looks like.
And choosing yourself?
That can be a goal too 🤍
Everyone has different goals, and this diversity reflects the many paths life offers us. A goal isn’t always about meeting external expectations like buying a house or marriage; sometimes, it’s deeply personal and unique, especially for those living abroad or undergoing significant personal changes. From my own experience, I've learned that goals can be fluid and evolve with our circumstances and growth. There was a time when I prioritized material success and societal milestones, but over the years, my focus shifted towards healing emotional wounds and embracing a calmer, more peaceful mindset. This transformation didn’t mean I failed to achieve traditional success; it meant I recognized what truly mattered to my well-being. Setting goals like "surviving one more year overseas" or "choosing peace over pressure" may sound modest but represent profound personal victories. They testify to strength and resilience that often goes unnoticed. I found that when I allowed myself the freedom to redefine what success looks like—perhaps prioritizing self-respect or a balanced life that doesn’t drain me—I experienced a sense of empowerment. Choosing yourself after long sacrifices is a valid, powerful goal, one that can restore confidence and bring true fulfillment. Remember, no one else can decide your finish line. Goals are deeply individual, and honoring that uniqueness is essential for genuine contentment. Embracing this mindset helped me stay motivated during tough times, reminding me that growth is a journey where evolving goals mark progress, not failure.
