current skincare lineup !!
i have always been a skin care girly but never liked a ton of steps being a busy college student! i have combination skin so finding the perfect routine for me has been hard but i’ve finally found something that works for me. my current lineup and routine is:
morning:
🤍 La Roche-Posay Purifying Foaming Cleanser
🤍 Cera-Ve Ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion
this moisturizer is perfect when i have a busy day and will be wearing makeup. it’s a very thin moisturizer that soaks in and gives a matte look.
night:
🤍 Micellar Cleansing Water
🤍 Neutrogena Makeup Remover Melting Balm
still not sure if i really love this product or not. i’ve noticed my face feeling dry after multiple uses but it’s great for a pre-cleanser balm.
🤍 La Roche-Posay Medicated Gel Cleanser
love using this at night because it feels like a deep cleanse each time.
🤍Cetaphil Oil Absorbing Moisturizer

Finding the perfect skincare routine, especially as a busy college student with combination skin, can feel like a never-ending quest. I totally get it! My journey has involved a lot of trial and error, but I’ve finally landed on a simple lineup that genuinely works for me. It's all about consistency and choosing the right products that address both oily and dry areas without overcomplicating things. For anyone looking for a straightforward, effective routine, focusing on minimal products is key. Why? Because consistency is easier to maintain when you're not overwhelmed by steps. My goal was always to find that sweet spot between 'doing enough' and 'doing too much,' especially when juggling classes and social life. Many dermatologists often recommend this 'less is more' approach, especially when starting out or dealing with sensitive skin. Let’s dive a bit deeper into why these specific products have become my go-to. For my morning cleanse, the La Roche-Posay Purifying Foaming Cleanser is a godsend. It effectively removes overnight oil buildup without stripping my skin, leaving it feeling fresh but not tight. This is super important for combination skin – you want to cleanse thoroughly, but gently. Following up with the CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion is perfect. It’s truly ultra-light and sinks in quickly, providing just enough hydration without making my T-zone greasy. Plus, it layers beautifully under makeup, making it an ideal day cream for a fresh look, even on hectic college mornings. My evening routine is where I focus on truly cleansing away the day. I start with a double cleanse using Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to break down makeup, followed by the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Melting Balm. While I mentioned feeling a bit dry after the balm sometimes, I’ve found that using it as a pre-cleanse and then immediately moving to my second cleanse helps. If you experience similar dryness, try to ensure you're rinsing thoroughly and not rubbing too harshly. For my second cleanse, the La Roche-Posay Medicated Gel Cleanser gives that satisfying deep clean feeling, helping to tackle any breakouts or congestion from the day. It’s a powerful but still gentle option for combination skin. For nighttime moisture, the Cetaphil Oil Absorbing Moisturizer is fantastic. It provides ample hydration for my drier areas while helping to control oil in my T-zone overnight. What’s often overlooked in simple routines is targeted care. I've also found that having Aquaphor Healing Ointment on hand, as seen in some of my product shots, is a lifesaver for any particularly dry patches or compromised skin barriers, especially during colder months or after using active ingredients. Just a tiny dab on chapped lips or flaky areas overnight makes a huge difference. Finally, a quick note for everyone, regardless of gender: good skincare is universal. A simple routine like this, focusing on gentle cleansing, adequate hydration, and sun protection (don't forget that SPF in the morning!), works for anyone with combination skin. These drugstore brands are widely available, effective, and often recommended by skincare professionals for their mild formulations. Remember, consistency beats complexity every time! Listen to your skin, and don't be afraid to tweak your routine as your skin's needs change.
