2026 READING JOURNAL FLIP THROUGH

... Read moreThere's nothing quite like starting a new reading journal, especially for a brand new year like 2026! I'm so excited to share some tips and inspiration for setting up your own, drawing from my personal experience and favorite layouts. A reading journal is more than just a place to list books; it's a creative outlet and a wonderful way to reflect on your reading journey throughout the year. Designing Your Perfect 2026 Reading Journal Cover Page The cover page sets the tone for your entire journal, and it's where you can truly let your personality shine! For my 2026 journal, I opted for a beautiful light green journal with celestial designs – sun, moon, and stars – which felt perfectly aligned with dreaming big for my reading year. You can go for anything that sparks joy: perhaps something with floral and succulent drawings for a natural vibe, or a bold minimalist design. Don't be afraid to get creative! You can use stickers, hand-drawn elements, printed images, or even collage different textures. Make sure to clearly mark it as your "2026 Reading Journal" so future self knows exactly what it is. It's your first impression, so make it magical! Essential Spreads: Goals, TBR, and Ratings Beyond a pretty cover, the heart of any good reading journal lies in its functional spreads. One of my absolute favorites is the goals page. Setting clear goals, like aiming to "Read 58 books before end of year," gives you something tangible to work towards. But don't stop at quantity! Consider goals like reading certain genres, exploring new authors, or completing specific challenges. Another must-have is a dedicated TBR (To Be Read) list. I find two columns of numbered titles, like my list including "Brave New World" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," works really well for keeping track. It's so satisfying to tick off a book once you've read it! And of course, a solid rating system is crucial. Define what each star rating means to you – from "Absolutely LOVED it!" to "horrible, awful, hated it" – to ensure consistency and really capture your feelings about each book. Fun Trackers and Challenges to Spice Up Your Journal This is where you can really dive deep into the bookish community's favorite activities! I love incorporating various trackers and challenges to keep things exciting. A "Current Series Tracker" is invaluable for remembering where you left off in a long series. "Bookish Bingo" is a fantastic way to diversify your reading – create a grid with different prompts (e.g., 'read a book with a blue cover,' 'read a debut novel') and mark them off as you go. The "A to Z Challenge," where you read books by title or author starting with each letter of the alphabet, is another personal favorite. Don't forget a "BOOK of the YEAR 2026" bracket to track your top reads in a fun, competitive way! And for a detailed overview, my "Monthly Overview" spread tracks total books, total pages, and average star ratings for each month from January to December, giving me a clear picture of my reading habits. Ultimately, your reading journal should be a reflection of you and your reading journey. Don't worry about making it perfect, focus on making it functional and fun. Grab some pens, stickers, and washi tape, and enjoy the process of creating a beautiful record of your literary adventures for 2026!
