Homemade cards underrated!

I love getting homemade cards! And I also love making them! I’ve always loved crafts and art. But after becoming a SAHM I’ve come to love homemade cards more fore more reasons.

1. What a cherished memory for myself and my daughter to look back on when we get to do them together.

2. They can be keep sakes for family 💕 And we always get compliments on them.

3. They save money!!! For Mother’s Day this year I make a heart out of my daughter’s feet and hand wrote on them. The cheapest Mother’s Day card you can get in my area is $1.25 (Dollar Tree). Where I was able to put a packages of 40 plan cards from Walmart for less then $10 total. That .25 a card! Which is $40 I’ve saved!

3.B the other cards that we made into bumble bees were thank you cards from after my daughter’s first birthday. Which these blank cards were leftovers from my baby shower for her.

Over the years, I’ve embraced the joy of crafting cards from scratch, and it has truly enriched special occasions in my family. One of my favorite memories is making cards together with my daughter. This hands-on activity lets us share quality time while creating something unique that we can both cherish forever. Beyond the sentimental value, homemade cards offer incredible practical advantages. For example, making Mother’s Day cards using simple materials like blank cardstock and handprints or footprints adds a deeply personal touch that no store-bought card can match. These cards often become treasured keepsakes for family members, capturing moments from a child's early years that evoke warm nostalgia. From a budget perspective, homemade cards can lead to substantial savings. Buying a single card at retail prices often costs more than a few cents. But purchasing a pack of blank cards and customizing them yourself can reduce costs dramatically, allowing you to create dozens of memorable cards for the price of just a few store-bought ones. I also find repurposing leftover cards from other events—like baby shower blank cards—into creative thank yous or themed cards such as bumblebees adds a layer of sustainability and creativity. It’s rewarding to transform simple materials into vibrant, meaningful expressions. Overall, making homemade cards is a wonderful tradition that combines art, savings, and emotional value. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or simply someone who loves crafting, these handmade gestures strengthen family bonds and become priceless keepsakes filled with love and memory.
