Walking 26,000 steps in a day, like this University of Minnesota student, is impressive and inspiring. From my experience, integrating walking into daily routines not only boosts physical health but also enhances mental clarity and energy levels. One effective way to achieve such a high step count is by exploring campus extensively—going to classes, study groups, and events on foot instead of taking transportation. Participating in clubs or recreational activities, such as arts and crafts sessions, sports practice, or even casual meetups, naturally increases movement throughout the day. Using apps or wearables to track daily steps can motivate you to reach personal goals. I find that setting incremental targets, celebrating small victories, and sharing progress with friends helps sustain motivation. Additionally, engaging with wellness brands and shops on campus, such as those referenced (e.g., BALA US or Glow Recipe), can encourage a lifestyle that supports fitness and recovery. Incorporating moments for rest and recovery is equally important after a day packed with physical activity—whether it’s a power nap, stretching, or mindful breathing exercises. These practices help prevent burnout and promote a positive mindset essential for college success. Ultimately, being active on campus by walking extensively not only contributes to physical fitness but also enriches the college experience, creating opportunities to connect with others and explore new interests.
