Looking back on my running journey from 2025 into 2026, I’ve realized that tracking progress is one of the most motivating aspects of staying active. For example, after an energizing 4-mile jog in April 2025—right after a trip to Morocco—I felt great and challenged myself to push a little harder during the last mile. The pace was steady at 11:11 per mile, which was encouraging given the circumstances. What truly inspired me to stay consistent was setting incremental targets, like striving to beat my own 2nd fastest 2-mile run. During one of my campus runs with just 12 days left before graduation, I maintained an average pace of 8:39 per mile, which felt like a real milestone. These runs not only boosted my physical health but also gave me mental clarity as I prepared for major life changes. From personal experience, having a running buddy or following inspiring runners on social media, like Caroline Close, can keep you accountable and motivated. Recording your miles and pace, even noting how you feel afterward, creates a positive feedback loop that encourages steady improvement. Despite being proud of where I am today, I know there is a way to go, and that’s part of the journey. Whether it’s maintaining consistency or pushing through a tough mile, every run brings me closer to my fitness goals. If you’re just starting or trying to build momentum, focus on enjoying the process, celebrate small wins, and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself at your own pace.
