If you're planning a trip through Arizona and Utah and want to experience some of the region's most iconic sights, this itinerary offers a fantastic balance of adventure and scenic beauty. Starting in Phoenix, the drive to Page takes about 4 hours, but be sure to make stops along the way like Cafe Mollie for a coffee break and In-N-Out for a quick and classic lunch in Flagstaff. These stops add a local flavor to the journey and keep you energized. Arriving in Page, visiting Horseshoe Bend at sunset is a breathtaking experience. The view of the Colorado River curving around the sandstone cliff glows in the warm evening light, creating perfect photo opportunities. For dinner, the Bird House is a cozy spot to enjoy local cuisine before resting up for the next day's adventure. Day two highlights a hike to The Wave, an extraordinary sandstone rock formation in Coyote Buttes North. A lottery permit is required well in advance to secure access, so planning ahead is essential. The hike is roughly 6.4 miles round trip and offers some of the most unique and colorful geological formations you will ever see. The tricky and bumpy road to the Wirepass Trailhead justifies renting a Jeep or a similar off-road vehicle. After your hike, prepare for the drive to Moab, Utah, about 5.5 hours from Page. Moab is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, providing access to Arches National Park and Canyonlands. With its red rock landscapes and endless trails, it’s a perfect continuation of your Southwest adventure. Throughout this itinerary, be mindful of the weather and carry plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks. Each stop combines natural wonders with practical tips locals often use to make the trip smooth and enjoyable. This journey is truly a memorable way to explore the diverse landscapes and hidden gems of the American Southwest.
