Pre-shampoo routine
Truly the first step is to keep your hair in protective styles.
Whenever you’re ready to take down your protective style ALWAYS use oil to ease the take down process. If you have extra time then you can even do a hot oil treatment!
Lastly full detangle, first with your fingers then you can move on to a brush.

Hey curlfriends! I know the struggle of wash day – sometimes it feels like a battle against knots and dryness. But let me tell you, perfecting my PRE-SHAMPOO ROUTINE has been an absolute game-changer for my curly hair oiling routine. If you're looking for stronger, healthier, and more manageable curls, then this is the secret sauce you need to try! Before I even think about stepping into the shower, I make sure my hair is prepped and ready. The first crucial step, as you know, is keeping your hair in protective styles. This isn't just about looking cute; it's about minimizing manipulation and preventing breakage between washes. When it's time for wash day, carefully taking down your protective style is key. This is where the magic of OIL truly comes in. I always, always saturate my hair with a good hair OIL before attempting to unravel anything. This creates slip and makes the take-down process so much gentler, saving me from unnecessary breakage. Now, let's talk about the oil itself. For my curly hair, I've found that a blend of light and penetrating oils works wonders. Think coconut oil, olive oil, or even jojoba oil. I like to focus on my HAIR & SCALP, giving myself a gentle massage. This not only nourishes the scalp but also stimulates blood circulation, which is fantastic for hair growth. If I have a little extra time, a hot oil treatment is a luxury my curls adore! Just warm up your chosen oil (make sure it's not too hot!) and apply it. The warmth helps the oil penetrate deeper into the hair shaft, providing intense conditioning. I'll usually cover my hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 20-30 minutes while I do other things around the house. After the oil has had time to work its magic, it's time to DETANGLE. This is a step you absolutely cannot rush, especially with curly hair. The oil has already softened your strands and added slip, making it much easier. I always start with my fingers, gently working through sections from the ends upwards. Once the major knots are out, I move on to a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush designed for curly hair. Remember to be patient and gentle – pulling and tugging will only lead to breakage. Detangling in sections is incredibly helpful; it prevents you from getting overwhelmed and ensures every strand gets the attention it needs. This pre-shampoo oiling and detangling ritual has transformed my wash days from a dreaded chore into a therapeutic self-care moment. My curls are softer, more defined, and I've noticed significantly less shedding and breakage. It's amazing what a little bit of consistent care can do! If you're struggling with dry, brittle, or difficult-to-manage curls, I highly recommend incorporating a dedicated curly hair oiling routine into your regimen. It doesn't have to be complicated, just consistent. Give your hair the love it deserves, and you'll be amazed at the results!
