It's been such a joy creating and developing these characters, and I'm thrilled to share a deeper dive into who Aifea, Yanxue, and DJ truly are! They've been on my mind a lot lately, and I just had to put together more about their unique personalities and backstories. First up, let's talk about Aifea. She's the vibrant and captivating singer of the group, a cis lesbian who absolutely loves dressing up and performing. Her style is impeccable, and you can always count on her to bring the flair and energy to their band. I imagine her voice is incredibly expressive, capable of conveying a wide range of emotions that truly connect with an audience. She brings a certain confidence and sparkle that really ties the trio together. Then there's Yanxue, the enigmatic dragon who often finds himself behind the piano or keyboard. He identifies as a transmasc gay individual, and his quiet, introverted nature is a significant part of his charm. Originally a dragon, he's only recently taken on a human form, which still influences his appearance – particularly his hair, which moves and feels like water. Despite his sharp teeth, he has a gentle demeanor, though he's often mistaken for a woman due to his soft features. I find his journey of adapting to a human form, while navigating his identity, incredibly compelling. He’s the thoughtful, melodic heart of the band, grounding their sound with his instrumental talent. Did you know he stands at an impressive 6' 4.8" (195 cm)? And finally, we have DJ, a truly unique individual who uses He/Him/Any pronouns. DJ is an intersex pan individual, also described as a kind of Demi-God Mon Kie/Human/Shadow demon. This mix of heritage hints at some fascinating abilities and a rich, complex background. Despite his powerful lineage, he's portrayed as somewhat timid, even "too scared to talk to adults," which adds a layer of vulnerability to his character. His potential as a "Rabe Rave-J" character might even be explored further, hinting at a dynamic personality waiting to fully emerge. Standing at 6' 0" (182 cm), DJ's internal world is probably as intricate as his origins. Together, Aifea, Yanxue, and DJ form an inseparable trio. They're not just bandmates; they're roommates, best friends, and perhaps even a queer platonic trio, sharing a bond that transcends typical relationships. Their diverse personalities and backgrounds create a vibrant dynamic, whether they're collaborating on music or just navigating everyday life. The idea of them being part of the Lego Monkie Kid universe adds another exciting layer to their story, inviting endless possibilities for adventure and exploration. I'm constantly thinking about new ways to bring them to life, whether through fully colored reference sheets or exploring their connections to ancient ancestors – especially for DJ, who has such a mysterious past.
