Stop watching everyone else's story so closely that you miss the one God is writing for you.
"One" of the enemy's greatest distractions isn't always failure, but comparison.
When you're constantly counting someone else's blessings, celebrating their promotions, questioning their opportunities, or measuring your progress against theirs, you stop paying attention to what God is cultivating in your own life.
The time you spend wondering "Why them?" could be spent asking, "Lord, what are You teaching me? What doors are You opening? What gifts have You already placed in my hands that I've overlooked?"
Comparison will convince you that God has forgotten you. Faith reminds you that He is working, even when you can't yet see the harvest.
Instead of counting someone else's blessings, start counting your own. Gratitude has a way of opening your eyes to the goodness of God that envy keeps hidden.
"Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another." Galatians 5:26
Your assignment is unique. Your timing is intentional. And what God has for you doesn't require someone else to lose for you to win.
... Read moreI've personally experienced the trap of comparison more times than I care to admit. It's easy to scroll through social media, see someone's promotion, success, or blessings, and wonder, "Why not me?" or "What am I missing?" But what helped me shift my mindset was realizing that comparison not only steals my joy but also blinds me to what God is already doing in my life.
The saying "Envy is the art of counting another's blessings instead of your own" really resonated with me. Once I started making it a habit to count my own blessings daily—whether they were small moments of grace, talents I've overlooked, or doors quietly opening—it felt like God’s presence became clearer. I began to see that my journey has a timing and purpose all its own.
One practice that changed everything was replacing "Why them?" with questions like, "What am I learning?" or "How is God shaping me?" This not only refocused my energy but gave me peace amidst uncertainty. Faith reminds us that even if we can’t see the harvest, God is working behind the scenes.
Galatians 5:26’s warning against envy and provocation struck a chord. Envy disrupts community and stalls our progress. Instead, embracing gratitude opened my eyes to joy and contentment I hadn’t noticed before. And truly, your success doesn’t require someone else to lose. Each of us has a unique assignment crafted with intentional timing.
So, if you find yourself stuck in comparisons, try turning inward and upward. Reflect on your unique gifts, celebrate your personal milestones, and trust that God’s plan for you is unfolding perfectly—even if you don’t see it all right now. It’s a journey worth embracing rather than competing in. Over time, this shift can bring deeper fulfillment and a stronger faith that sustains you through all seasons of life.
