A11VO190/260 EP2D valve
The EP2D is an electro-hydraulic proportional control valve mounted on the A11VO pump body. It is the "brain" of the pump, determining the pump's output behavior.
Its core function is to achieve a composite control of "load sensing," "pressure cutoff," and "constant power control."
1. Load Sensing
• Function: The EP2D valve detects the highest load pressure in the system and automatically adjusts the pump's displacement, ensuring that the pump's output pressure is always higher than the highest load pressure by a constant preset value (e.g., 15-20 bar).
• Impact on operation:
• Energy saving: When all control levers are in the neutral position, there is no load on the system, and the pump automatically reduces to a low-pressure standby state (only maintaining the compensator pressure difference), with near-zero flow output, resulting in extremely low oil consumption and heat generation.
• Good controllability: When the operator operates the control lever, the pump only provides the exact pressure and flow required for the action, with speed proportional to the displacement of the control lever. The movement is precise, smooth, and unaffected by load changes.
2. Pressure Cutoff
• Function: This is a safety protection function of the system. When the system pressure reaches the maximum pressure value set in the EP2D valve, the valve instructs the pump to quickly reduce the displacement, preventing the pressure from rising further.
• Impact on operation:
• Safety: Prevents excessive system pressure, protecting all hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, and oil pipes from damage.
• Reduced overflow loss: Compared with traditional constant-pressure pumps that overflow at full flow after reaching the set pressure, the pressure cutoff function limits the pressure by reducing the displacement, resulting in less energy loss and greater energy efficiency.
3. Constant Power Control
• Function: This function is also known as a "power limiter" or "constant torque control." It ensures that the pump's output power (pressure × flow) does not exceed the maximum power that the engine can provide. When the system pressure increases, the EP2D valve automatically reduces the pump's displacement (i.e., flow), thus keeping the power constant.
• Impact on operation:
• Engine protection: Prevents the engine from stalling due to excessive power demand from the hydraulic system under heavy load conditions.
• Full utilization of engine power: Ensures that the engine always operates near its optimal power curve, efficiently utilizing all power under various loads.
