Cook For Family with LOVE 🥰
This is the kind of meal that meets you exactly where you are.
I called to cancel. I was running on empty after a long day, and my cousin said the words tired souls need to hear: "Come over. I've been preparing all afternoon. And if you fall asleep on my couch, no worries."
So I showed up — and this is what love looked like on a plate. Glazed salmon lacquered to a deep amber shine, cooked with the kind of patience you can taste. Tender broccolini glistening with garlic. Braised cabbage and collards folded over seasoned couscous, the kind of greens that simmer while somebody thinks about you. And a golden cornbread muffin, crisp at the edges, soft in the middle — the exclamation point on the whole plate.
Here's what I was reminded of tonight: rest isn't always canceling. Sometimes rest is letting someone pour into you. Sometimes self-preservation looks like saying yes to the people who prepared a place for you before you even knew you needed one.
I almost missed this. Don't let tired talk you out of being loved well. Thank you cousins.
Let's go. 🍽️✨
