It’s hard seeing Things change

I’m only 21 but being who I am I see everything changing everyone I know getting older places shutting down. I was at Shakey’s today for a Christmas party and my mom’s birthday. It’s been a while since I was last there it brought back a lot of memories. The Mulligans place in my sister closed permanently a while ago. I was looking at my mom’s hair it’s gray now. Time is just passing so fast and I had a thought. Maybe it’s easier to hate on younger generations than acknowledge are time has moved on? Maybe some part of us blames them for change? Or at least getting to experience that change as a first as what’s classic for them. But we have to remember soon everyone will have good old days. Time moves on for everyone things change for everyone.

... Read moreMany of us can relate to the feeling of watching familiar places close or change hands, such as the beloved Shakey’s Pizza Parlor established in 195_. These landmarks often hold treasured memories that shape our sense of belonging and identity. When they disappear, it can feel like a loss not only of a physical space but of the past itself. Observing family members age, like noticing a parent’s gray hair, can bring a mix of emotions—grief, nostalgia, and appreciation. It reminds us that time is relentlessly moving forward, affecting everyone regardless of age. This passage of time often leads to an inevitable reflection on what we once considered permanent or unchanging. There is also a generational dynamic at play. Sometimes older generations express frustration with the younger, blaming them for shifts in culture and society. Yet, as the original reflection suggests, change is universal and unavoidable. Younger generations will one day have their own "good old days" that future generations will look back on. Understanding and empathy help bridge the gap between generations. Instead of resisting change or blaming others, embracing it as part of life’s natural cycle enriches our perspective. We can honor the past while being open to new experiences, realizing that each generation contributes uniquely to the evolving cultural tapestry. Ultimately, accepting change means recognizing that memories and emotions linked to certain places and people remain within us, even as the physical world transforms. This helps us find peace and resilience amid the ongoing flow of time and life’s transitions.
