... Read moreOh, Iggy, my heart! Every day with this little guy is an adventure, especially when it comes to his nap times. You wouldn't believe the contortions he gets into! One minute he'll be a little black and white pretzel, all curled up with his tabby friend on our cozy pink blanket, which, by the way, has the cutest cupcake and strawberry patterns. The next, I'll find him completely stretched out, with his head and front paws dangling off the edge of the sofa or even a bookshelf – it's like he's defying gravity just to get comfortable! It always makes me wonder what dreams he's having.
I've read that cats sleep in such varied positions for many reasons, from feeling safe and secure to trying to regulate their body temperature. When Iggy is all tucked in a tight ball, I know he's feeling super cozy and protected. But when he's sprawled out, belly up or with limbs everywhere, it usually means he trusts his environment completely and is feeling totally relaxed. It’s a joy to witness that level of comfort in a rescue cat. Some experts even say a cat sleeping on their back, exposing their belly, is the ultimate sign of trust – and Iggy does it all the time!
And don't even get me started on his purr – it’s legendary! It’s not just a soft rumble; it's a full-body vibration that he seems to maintain 24/7. Seriously, I sometimes think he’s powered by purrs! It's one of the most comforting sounds in the world, isn't it? There's something so therapeutic about a cat's purr, whether they're happy, content, or even self-soothing. Many people don't realize that a cat's purr can even have healing properties, both for themselves and for us! Iggy's purr is definitely his superpower, a constant reminder of his sweet nature and how much love he has to give.
It's bittersweet knowing that my time with Iggy is coming to an end as he prepares for his forever home. Fostering cats like Iggy is such a rewarding experience, but saying goodbye is always the hardest part. You pour so much love into them, watch them blossom, and then have to let them go so they can bring joy to another family. It's a journey of love, growth, and a little bit of heartbreak, but totally worth it for these amazing creatures. I'll miss his silly sleeping antics and his constant purring deeply, but I know he's going to make someone incredibly happy. He's such a unique character, and I truly hope his new family appreciates his quirky charm and endless purr-power as much as I have. Every foster cat leaves a paw print on your heart, and Iggy's print is definitely an extra-large, purring one! If you're considering fostering, I highly recommend it – the love you give and receive is immeasurable, even if the goodbyes are tough. It's about giving a deserving cat like Iggy a second chance at a happy life.
