It’s like a blueberry or blue raspberry flavor… It doesn’t taste like cotton candy to me…. It definitely depends on the location you go to… if they don’t put enough of the flavoring it’s just going to taste like vanilla.
10/10
Kinda similar to the grimace shake but not exactly the same!

... Read moreOkay, so after my initial post about the McDonaldland Shake, I've had even more thoughts swirling around my head – just like the shake itself! I know I said it was an *unpopular opinion apparently*, but honestly, I stand by my blue raspberry/blueberry take. It's not just a casual sip; it's an experience, especially with that vibrant pink/purple hue staring back at you from the cup featuring those classic McDonald's characters.
A lot of people are definitely tasting cotton candy, and I get why that might be the go-to description for something so brightly colored and sweet. But for me, it's undeniably a fruitier, slightly tart flavor profile. Think less spun sugar and more like a classic blue raspberry candy, or maybe even a really sweet blueberry pie filling. It has that distinct artificial berry kick, but in the best possible way. It's sweet, yes, but not cloyingly so, which I think is key. It hits different from your typical vanilla or chocolate shake.
Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room – the Grimace Shake comparison. Initially, I just said it was 'kinda similar but not exactly the same,' and I want to elaborate on that. Both shakes share that fun, limited-time, vibrant color appeal. But the Grimace Shake had a very distinct berry-like flavor, almost like a berry cereal milk, which was quite unique. The McDonaldland Shake, while also berry-ish, feels a bit more straightforward in its fruitiness. It's less 'mystery flavor' and more 'classic berry punch.' If Grimace was a deep, almost creamy berry, this one is bright, zingy, and playful. They both have that thick, refreshing texture perfect for a hot day, but their flavor personalities are definitely distinct.
And on that note about location variation – seriously, this is crucial! I've heard some horror stories of folks getting a bland, vanilla-tasting version. From my experience, it really comes down to whether the staff at your specific McDonald's puts enough of that special flavoring in. My tip? If you get one that tastes too plain, don't be afraid to politely ask if they can add a bit more. Sometimes it just needs that extra pump to really unlock the full McDonaldland Shake potential. Also, the temperature matters! A perfectly chilled, thick shake is always superior.
Beyond the taste, there's just something about this shake that brings back serious nostalgic vibes, especially seeing those McDonald's characters on the cup. It's fun, it's playful, and it’s a perfect little treat to brighten up your day. It’s definitely a 10/10 for me, and I'm honestly sad it's probably going to be limited edition. If you haven't tried it yet, or if you had a bad experience, maybe give it another shot at a different location. I’m genuinely curious: what are your thoughts on the McDonaldland Shake? Are you Team Blueberry/Blue Raspberry, or are you firmly in the Cotton Candy camp? Let me know!
